It’s funny how fast time goes by. Here I am in Sydney braving the start of winter but just a couple of weeks ago, I was in Melbourne embarking on the Great Ocean Road with Go West tours. It was something I had booked ages ago and before I knew it, I was sitting in the minivan with eleven other people and we were ready for new sights.
Our first pit stop was an hour and a half out of Melbourne but our bus driver, Frank, made sure that we beat the legions of other tour buses that were making their way down the Great Ocean Road that day. We stopped by picturesque beaches that were the epitome of postcard designs and even though the weather was dreary, we still were able to snap up tons of photos.
The main attraction of course was the Twelve Apostles and even though it was crowded, the sight was still amazing. The Twelve Apostles had never really appealed to me before but I’m glad I decided to take a chance on it. It’s definitely something that everyone should see if they have the opportunity to.
Whilst I did enjoy the Twelve Apostles, my new favourite place in Australia would definitely have to be Loch Ard Gorge. It was one of our final pit stops on the tour and I’m so glad we were able to see it. I’m a sucker for a good story and history has it that a sailor and a young lady were trapped in the gorge in the 1800s. The sand was hard to trudge and the waves kept hitting the sand so fast that we were all running every couple of minutes but I couldn’t help but love the place.
